GENERAL POINTS Before lighting the fire check with the installer that the work and checks described in the installation instructions have been carried out correctly and that the chimney has been swept, is sound, and free from any obstructions.

ASH CLEARANCE The ashpan must be emptied regularly before it becomes too full. The most convenient time to remove the ash is just before riddling the fire since the ash will then be at it’s coolest.
THROAT PLATE AND FLUEWAY CLEANING It is important that the throat plate and all the appliance flueways are kept clean. When burning smokeless fuels they should be cleaned monthly. When burning other fuels they should be cleaned at least once a week, and more frequently if necessary.
