3 2 Overview The Cisco 1800 series integrated serv ices routers incl udes the Cisco 1841 router, which is a data -only router . Cisco 1841 r outers support W AN interface cards (WIC), voice/ W AN interface cards (VWICs) in data mo de only , single-wide high-speed W AN interface cards (HWICs), and advanced integration module (AIMs).

9 War n in g Before working on a sy stem that has an on/off switch, turn OFF the power and unplug the pow er cord. When the startup messages end, the SYS PWR LED comes on solid green. Caution Do not press any keys on the keyboard until the messages stop and the SY S PWR LED is solid green .
16 Verify the Hardware Configuration V erify the router hardware configuratio n by entering the follow ing commands: • show versi on —Displays the system hardware versio n; the installed software version; the names and sources of configuration files; the boot images; and the amount of installed DRAM, NVRAM, and fla sh memory .
17 Note On the Cisco 1841 router , the numberi ng format for configuring an async interface is 0/slot/port. T o configure the line associated with an async interface, simply use the interface number to specify the asy nc line. For example, line 0/0 /0 specifies the line associ ated with interface serial 0/0/0 on a WIC-2A/S in slo t 0.
18 The prompts in the setup command facility vary , depending on you r router model, the installed interface modules, and the software image. The following ex ample and the user entries (i n bold ) are shown as examples only . For help with interface and port numbering, see the “Interface Numbering” sect ion on page 16.
