1 Intr oduction Thank y ou for choosing the PURE EV OKE-1 Elg ar Special Edition digital radio. This owner’ s manual provides information on setting up y our unit, instr uctions on using it and details of the accessories and support av ailable.
2 Unpacking This section lists the contents of y our EV OKE-1 Elg ar package. Contact us if any items are missing or damag ed. EVOKE-1 Elg ar digital radio unit . 230V AC to 12V DC mains po wer adapter . Remov able telescopic aerial (fitted to unit). W arranty registration card.
3 Contr ols and Connectors This section provides information on the controls and connectors a v ailable on the front and rear panels of y our EV OKE-1 Elgar .
4 Rear Panel Aerial socket for connection to the supplied telescopic or other aerial Headphone socket (3.5mm) for connection to headphones Aux Speaker socket (3.5mm) for connection to the optional ST -1 speaker for full stereo output Stereo Line Out socket (3.
5 Connecting up This section provides information on connecting y our aerial, pow er adapter and other devices. Connector sockets are provided on the rear panel of y our EV OKE-1 Elgar . Before connecting other devices to y our EVOKE-1 Elgar , switch both devices off.
6 Connecting to power suppl y Once y ou ha ve made all other connections, connect the supplied pow er lead to the socket on the rear of y our digital radio and plug the pow er adapter into a wall outlet. Connecting an auxiliary speaker Y ou can connect a second unpow ered speaker to y our EVOKE-1 Elg ar radio using the Aux Speaker sock et.
7 Switching on and off Before switching on for the first time, check all connections, extend y our aerial and ensure that the v olume is low . Push and release the Power button to s witch the unit on or off. The LCD screen will light up w hen the unit is on.
8 Autotune local - scans all frequencies in the UK channel allocation. This should only take a fe w seconds. Autotune full - scans the full rang e of digital frequencies in Band III. This ma y take a minute or more. 1. Ensure your EV OKE-1 Elgar is switched on and the aerial is connected and fully extended.
9 Changing the display mode EVOKE-1 Elg ar has six displa y modes which enable y ou to view parts of the broadcast data on the bottom line of the displa y .
10 Storing and r ecalling presets The numbered buttons ( 1 - 6 ) enable y ou to store radio stations for one-touch access. T o stor e a station Y ou can store a station to a preset while listening to it or w hen y ou see the station name on the bottom line of the displa y while scrolling through the station list.
11 Advanc ed setup options The EVOKE-1 Elg ar has a number of adv anced features w hich enable y ou to change the order and number of stations on the station list, use a tuning aid, apply Dynamic Rang e Control (DRC) and view the software v ersion.
12 T uning aid This option provides a signal le vel displa y which y ou can use to find the best position for your radio and aerial. When y ou select this option, the bottom line of the displa y sho ws the channel identifier and frequency .
13 Resetting your EV OKE-1 Elgar A reset option is provided to enable y ou to reset y our unit. This remo ves all presets, stored stations and favourite station settings and resets all options to defaults.
14 Guide to digital radio Y our EVOKE-1 Elg ar enables y ou to receiv e and listen to D AB radio prog rammes. Digital Audio Broadcast (D AB) uses digital signals rather than traditional analogue signals enabling near CD-quality audio with virtually interference-free reception.

16 T r oubl eshooting This section gives some of the most lik ely solutions to problems y ou might hav e with y our EV OKE-1 Elgar . I can’t get any sound Make sure y our EVOKE-1 Elg ar is plugg ed in and switched on as explained on pag e 7. Check that the volume is not set too lo w , see pag e 8 for details.
17 Y our EVOKE-1 Elg ar is supplied with a telescopic D AB aerial. This is an indoor aerial which is designed to giv e good re cep tion in areas with good to moderate D AB signal strength. In areas with poor D AB co verag e or poor signal strength y ou ma y want to consider using a loft mounted or external aerial.
18 Ac ces sories PURE Digital supply a rang e of accessories and complementar y products for y our EV OKE-1 Elgar including a matching cherr y wood ST -1 auxiliar y speaker for stereo output, external aerials, signal boosters, audio cables and adapters.
