2 you outstanding position and na vigation information. Most people are amazed when the y actually use a GPS receiver and see what it does . Please sit down with the unit and this man ual and familiarize y ourself with them bef ore using the Eagle View in the “real w orld”.
3 Gimbal Bracket Washer Gimbal Knob Eagle View Attach the Eagle View to the gimbal bracket using the supplied gimbal knobs and washers as shown below..

5 ANTENNA The Eagle View’ s antenna can be mounted on any flat surf ace , pro vided you ha ve access behind the surf ace for the mounting scre ws. A magnet is also supplied that can be epo xied to the bottom of the antenna, allowing it to be used on off-road v ehicles.
6 After drilling the holes, pass the o-ring ov er the antenna cable and press it into the groov e on the bottom of the antenna housing. Now attach the antenna to the mounting surf ace, using 4mm screws and the supplied lock w ashers. Route the cable to the Eagle Vie w and the antenna installa- tion is finished.
7 KEYBO ARD The k eyboard has twelv e keys. The arrow k eys are tied to most of the f eatures, letting you easily mo ve the plotter’ s cursor , navigate through the menus , mak e selections from menus , and other tasks. The WPT k ey lets you create , sav e, and recall wa ypoints and routes.
8 OPERA TION T urning Po wer On T o tur n the Eagle View on, simply press the PWR ke y . A screen similar to the one at right appears. Read the message on the screen, then press the EXIT ke y to erase it. The Eagle View is now ready f or use. MENUS Most of the Eagle View’ s adjustments and features are f ound on “men us”.
9 Once the Eagle View loc ks on to the satellites and finds your position, it stores the satellite data in its memory . The next time y ou use the unit, it should take much less time to loc k on.
10 arrow k ey . The screen shown at right ap- pears. Using the down arro w key , highlight the “Initialize GPS Receiv er” menu, then press the right arrow ke y .
11 Now change the local time and date if they’ re incorrect on this screen. (Don’t worry about altitude.) When ev er ything is acceptabl e, press the EXIT key repeat- edly to return to a mode screen. The Eagle View will instantly use the data you entered to find the satellites in the sky .
12 as "GRP" (groups). For e xample, Group A is the first windo ws group on the MODE menu.) Press the right arro w ke y to see more screens on each mode. When the desired screen appears, press the EXIT k ey to clear the menu. Note: F or a list of abbreviations used on the displa ys, see the bac k of this manual.
13 348°. The line extending behind the ar- row in the center sho ws your trac k his- tor y , or path you’v e tra velled. Y our speed ov er ground or Ground Speed (GS) shows in the digital bo x to the right of the circle. The screen looks like this when y ou’re not navigating to a w aypoint.
14 Nav Screen #2 The navigation screen sho ws navigation inf or mation in large digital n umbers. T o view this screen, press the MODE k ey , then press the up arrow k ey until the b lack bo x surrounds the “NA V 1” label. Now press the right arro w ke y .
15 row k ey to mov e the black bo x to the "PLO T" label. Now press the right arrow or left arro w key to select plot 2. This screen (as shown at the bottom of the pre vious page) has navigation data displa yed on the right side of the screen in digital numbers .
16 Record T rail On / Off The line e xtending from the present po- sition diamond on the plotter is call the plot trail. As each dot on the trail is placed on the screen, it’ s also saved in memory . The plot trail recording can be turned off, if desired.
17 In the trac k-up vie w at right, the present position mov es straight towards the top of the displa y . As you can see , the an- chor icon is now sho wn in its proper ori- entation - to our right. A "N" shows to help you see which direction is north when the trac k-up mode is on.
18 Grid Lines The Eagle View can place grid lines on the plotter to help y ou see your position, or the position of wa ypoints and icons. T o do this, highlight the “Gr id Lines” label on the “Plotter Opts” menu, then press the right arrow ke y to tur n them on.
19 press the ENT k ey . The plotter screen re- appears with the icon at the cursor's lo- cation. Press the EXIT key to er ase the cursor . On the screen shown at r ight, the large fish icon was selected and placed at the cursor location.
20 the icon. If you wish to delete another icon, mov e the cursor ov er it and press the ENT ke y . When you’ re finished, press the EXIT key to er ase the cursor . WINDO WS This f eature gives y ou 15 diff erent groups of windows so y ou can use the best navigation displa y f or y our situation.
21 COURSE DEVIA TION INDICA T OR (CDI) The CDI shows y our distance to the left or right of the desired course. Y ou must recall a wa ypoint or run a route to use the CDI.
22 CLOCK Whene ver a cloc k, timer , or alar m is sho wing on a display , new items appear in the list when you press the MENU k e y . These items let you set the cloc k’ s time , alar ms , or the timers. Clock Set If the time shown on the cloc k display is not your local time , change it using the “Clock Set” function.
23 Timers The Eagle Vie w has two timers built in. One is a countdo wn timer and the other is a count-up timer . The countdown timer counts down from the time you put in to z ero . The count-up timer starts at zero and counts up to the time y ou entered.
24 This is the plot-2 edit screen. The “BRG” bo x in the upper r ight corner flashes, which means it’ s ready for change . If you don’t want to change this bo x, simply press the up or down arro w key to mo ve to the bo x that you do want to change .
25 Saving The Cursor P osition as a Wa ypoint When the cursor is showing on the plotter and y ou press the WPT ke y twice, the Eagle View puts the cursor’ s position into the first av ailable w aypoint n umber . A message appears on the displa y telling you the wa y - point number it just used.
26 Highlight the “Sav e Position As” label as shown below left and press the right arrow ke y when you’ re at the location you wish to sa ve . This saves your present position under the w a ypoint number you selected on the first page.
27 W A YPOINT NAMES It automatically assigns the wa ypoint number as a name when the w a ypoint position is sav ed. Y ou can find a wa y- point by highlighting the “Name” label on the wa ypoint menu as shown at right. Now press the right or left arrow k eys to scroll through the sa v ed wa ypoints.

Note:The names in the “F rom” and “T o” bo xes are not the wa ypoint numbers - they are the w aypoint names .
29 Delete a W a ypoint T o erase all of the inf or mation in a wa ypoint, simply press the WPT k ey , then select the wa ypoint you w ant to delete. Now highlight the “Wpt-Op- tions” label and press the r ight arro w key . Finally , highlight the “Delete WPT” label and press the right arrow ke y .
30 ROUTES Y ou can connect sev eral user wa ypoints together to f or m a route . When you recall the route , the Eagle View will sho w y ou navigation inf ormation to the first wa ypoint in the route, then when you reach that wa ypoint, it switches to the ne xt wa ypoint, and so on until you reach the last wa ypoint in the route.
31 This menu lets y ou go to the waypoint selection menu, delete a wa ypoint from the route, or see details about any w a y- point in the route. Since we want to add a wa ypoint to the route, press the right arrow k ey on the “Inser t F rom WPTS” label.
32 Finishing the Route When you’v e selected all of the wa ypoints f or the route , simply press the EXIT k ey until you return to the navigation, plotter , or windows screen.
33 The b lack bo x is on the “Route # 1” label. If this isn’t the route you w ant to use, press the right or left arrow ke ys to switch to another one .
34 Skip W aypoint The Eagle Vie w lets you skip a wa ypoint in a route without stopping the route. T o do this, first press the MENU k ey , then highlight the “Routes” menu and press the right arrow k ey , then highlight the “Skip WPT” label and press the right ar- row k ey .
35 Navigating to a cur sor location The Eagle Vie w lets y ou na vigation to a location without storing it in the waypoint database by using the plotter and cur- sor . T o do this, first s witch to the plotter screen. Now move the cursor to the lo- cation that you w ant to navigate to .
36 Navigating to a W aypoint using the Plotter The unique “birds-eye” view used b y the plotter gives y ou an easy wa y to na vi- gate to a w a ypoint. On the screen shown at right, the diamond with a cross in it is your present position. The box with the “S” in it w as your starting location when you recalled the w a ypoint.
37 SYSTEM SETUP The Eagle View has se ver al menus and commands listed under the “System Setup” label on the main menu. These commands aff ect the basic operation of the unit. T o use them, press the MENU ke y , then highlight the “System Setup” label.
38 T o change a unit of measure, first select the “Set Units” from the “System Setup” menu. The screen shown at right ap- pears. Highlight the desired selection, then press the left or right arrow ke y . Y ou can change one or all of the settings on this page.
39 NMEA / DGPS The Eagle View transmits data through the data port in the back of the unit using NMEA 0183 f or mat, v ersion 1.5 or 2.0. This data is used by other electronic de vices such as mar ine autopilots f or position and steer- ing inf or mation.
40 All wiring connections to the Eagle View are made to it’ s power cab le. See the sample wiring diagrams on the ne xt page for general wiring proce- dures.

42 the e xception of ser ial communications , typically no other setup needs to be made with these receivers . If you ha ve any other Magna vo x or Starlink compatible DGPS receiv er con- nected to the Eagle View , you ma y need to change the settings.
43 If you restore the unit to the f actor y settings , all options such as contrast, alarms, and other system choices are retur ned to their def ault values .
44 the receiv er. F or e xample, if you entered east longitude instead of west. Or if you’v e mov ed a long distance with the unit turned off. T o send a cold star t message to the re- ceiv er , highlight the “Ex ecute GPS Cold Star t” label, then press the right arrow ke y .
45 PCF (P osition Correction F actor) Another method used to make y our display match a chart or map is called “PCF” or P osition Correction F actor . This unit gives y ou the capability to mov e or offset the position shown on the displa y to match one on the char t.
46 After you’v e entered the latitude/longitude correction, press the ENT ke y to accept it. The Eagle View erases the PCF entry screen and retur ns to the na vigation or mapping screens with the correction f actor applied.
47 T o use any of these alar ms , first press the MENU ke y , then select the “ALARMS/CDI” menu. A screen similar to the one shown at right appears. Press the up or down arrow k ey to mov e the blac k box to the desired alarm, then press the right arrow ke y to turn it on.
48 SIMULA TOR A simulator is built into the Eagle View that has se ve ral options. Y ou can use nearly all of the unit’ s f eatures - ev en sav e and recall wa ypoints.
