6 BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE RATING PLATE This is situated on the front frame of the applia nce and can be seen upon opening the door. Alternativel y the rating plate may also b e found on the back or top of some models (where applicab le). The appliance must be p rotected by a suitabl y rated fuse or circuit breaker.
7 THE HOB USING THE HOB The gas hob ha s different burner sizes to suit different types of cooking: To ensure maximum bu rner efficiency only use pot s and pans with flat base s appropriate to the burn er size used. Larger burner (Rapid) - use a large pan for food such as chips .
8 In the event of the b urner flames being accidentally extinguish ed, turn off the burner control and do not attempt to re- ignite the burner for at least 1 min. THINGS TO NOTE If you are having any difficulty lig hting a hob burner turn all the hob controls off and make sure the burner parts have been re placed correctly.
9 THE GRILL CAUTION – Ac cessible parts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children should be kept away. When you first operate th e grill you may hear some sounds as the burner he ats up, this is quite normal and is not a fault on the appliance.
10 THE GRILL PAN AND HANDLE (NG models only) The grill pan has a removable handle. To insert the handle, press the button on the ha ndle with the thumb and pivot slightly upwards inserting the lip into the widest pa rt of the bracket. Mov e the handle towards the left, lower into position and release the button.

12 THE TOP OVEN The top oven is the smaller of the two ovens. It is designed for cooking smaller quantities of food . Place single dishes on the centre of the shelf. You should turn all food round during cooking The top oven is also i deal for use as warming compartment to warm di shes and keep food hot.
13 HINTS AND TIPS • Arrange the shelves in the required positions before switching the oven ON. S helf positions are counted from the top downward s. • Ensure that food is placed centrally on the shelf and there is sufficient room arou nd the baking tray/dish to allow for maximum circul ation.
14 THE MAIN OVEN HEAT ZONES There are zones of heat within the ove n. The temperature in the middle is the gas m ark you have chosen. The top of the oven is slightly hotter and the lower shelf sl ightly cooler. The base of the oven i s quite a lot cooler.

16 COOKING CHART The oven temperatures are intended as a guide only. It may be nece ssary to increase or decrease t he temperatures to suit individual preferences and req uirements.
17 ROASTING CHART INTERNAL TEMPERATURES – Rare : 50-60°C; Medium : 60-70°C; Well done : 70-80 °C MEAT TEMPERATURE COOKING TIME Beef/ Beef boned 160-180°C 20-35 minutes per ½kg (1lb) and 20-35 m.
18 SLOW COOK The slow cook setting gives a very low heat in the oven. It is particularly u seful when you are cooking soups, stews and casse roles because the lo ng slow cooking will make cheaper, tougher cuts of meat more tender. Some foods su ch as pastry and biscuits are not suitable for slow coo king because the temperature is too l ow.
19 Vegetables • Cut into small piec es. • Dried beans must be pre-soaked then boiled in an open pan for 15 minutes before addin g to any dish. • Place vegetables under meat in casseroles. • Cover food with a tight fit ting lid or tin foil. MILK PUDDINGS • Cover the cereal with boiling water and leave it to stand for 30 minutes.
20 CARE AND CLEANING Before cleaning al wa ys allo w the appliance to cool down. CLEANING MATERIALS Before using any cleaning materials on your appliance, check that they are suitable and that th eir use is recommended by the manufa cturer. Cleaners that contain blea ch should NOT be used as they may dull the surfa ce finishes.
21 WHEN REPLACING HOTPLATE BURNER PARTS 1. Crown to body. ( Do not try to force the crown on to the body). Make sure that the hole i n the crown is over the electrode. Check that the location pegs sit in the slots in the body. When the crown i s in this position let it fall freely on to the body.
22 CLEANING INSIDE THE GRILL AND OVEN COMPARTMENTS The sides and back of the main oven compartment are coated with a special Stayclean coating. Th ey should not be cleaned manually. The vitreous enam el main oven base and grill compartment base can be cle aned using normal oven cleaners with care.
23 CLEANING BETWEE N THE OUTER AND INNER DOOR GLASS The outer door glass is re mova ble for cleaning. TO REMOVE THE OUTER GLASS 1. Open the oven door slig htly to gain access to the two cross head screws on the top of the ove n door. 2. Loosen the two screws using a Pozidrive screwdriver.
24 SOMETHING NOT WORKING? Maintenance must only be carried ou t by a co mpetent/qualified person. Do not try to alter/modify the appliance yourself, as this could be dangerous. We recommend that you r appliance has an annual gas safety check ca rried out by our approved service organisation.

29 MOVING YOUR APPLIANCE You may damage some soft or badly fitted floor coverings when you move the applian ce. The floor covering under the a ppliance should be securely fixed so it does not ruck up when you move the appliance across it. Alternatively you could remove the floor covering.
30 CONNECTING TO GAS SUPPLY This appliance is designed to be insta lled with an appliance flexible conne ction only. Supply piping should not be less than R 3 / 8. Connection is made to the Rc ½ (½” B.S.P.) female threaded e ntry pipe located just below the hotplate level on the rear left hand side of the ap pliance.
31 PRESSURE TESTING 1. The oven injector is use d as a pressure test point. Remove the oven furnit ure. Remove oven burner box retaining clips (one spring clip from each side) and remo ve box front cove r. Replace one clip back into the ri ght hand side of the burner box.
