6 Disc-related terms D VD ±R / D VD ±RW D VD -R and D VD +R are two diff erent standards f or recordable D VD drives and discs . This format allows inf ormation to be recorded onto the D VD disc only once. D VD +RW and D VD -R W are two standards for re-writable media, meaning the D VD content can be erased and re-recorded.

8 Remote Control Remote Control Operation P oint the remote control at the remote sensor and press the buttons . Do not mix old and new batteries and ne ver mix diff erent types of batteries such as standard, alkaline, etc.
9 Setting up the Play er The picture and sound of a nearby TV , VCR, or radio ma y be distor ted during playback. If this occurs, position the pla yer a wa y from the TV , VCR, or radio , or turn off the unit after removing the disc.
10 A udio Connection to Optional Equipment Connect the D VD play er to your optional equipment f or audio output. Amplifier equipped with 2-channel analog stereo or Dolby Pr o Logic ll / Pro Logic : C.
11 On-Screen Display Y ou can display the general pla yback status on the TV screen. Some items can be changed using the menu. To use the on-screen displa y: 1. Press DISPLA Y during playbac k. 2. Press v / V to select an item. The selected item is highlighted.
12 Initial Settings By using the Setup menu, you can mak e various adjustments to items such as picture and sound. Y ou can also set a language f or the subtitles and the Setup menu, among other things. For details on each Setup menu item, see pages 12 to 15.
13 Installation and Setup Progressive Scan Progressiv e Scan Video provides the highest quality pictures with less flick ering. If you are using the Component Video jacks f or connection to a TV or monitor that is compatible with a progressiv e scan signal, set Progressiv e Scan to On.
14 Dynamic Range Control (DRC) With the D VD format, you can hear a prog ram’ s soundtrack in the most accur ate and realistic presentation possible , thanks to digital audio technology . Howe v er , you may wish to compress the dynamic range of the audio output (the diff erence between the loudest sounds and the quietest ones).
15 Installation and Setup LOCK (Parental Contr ol) Rating Some movies contain scenes that ma y not be suitable f or children to view . Many of these discs contain parental control inf ormation that applies to the complete disc or to cer tain scenes on the disc.
16 Operation Pla ying a D VD or Video CD Playbac k Setup 1. T urn on the TV and select the video input source connected to the D VD play er. 2. T urn on the audio system (if applicable) and select the input source connected to the D VD play er.
17 Operation Still Picture and Frame-by-Frame Pla yback 1. Press P A USE/STEP on the remote control during pla yback. Advance the picture frame-by-fr ame by pressing P A USE/STEP repeatedly . 2. T o e xit still motion mode, press PLA Y . Slow Motion 1.
18 Zoom Use zoom to enlarge the video image . 1. Press ZOOM dur ing playbac k or still pla yback to activate the Zoom function. The square frame appears briefly in the right bottom of the picture.
19 Operation Playing an A udio CD or MP3/WMA Disc The D VD play er can play MP3/WMA f ormatted recordings on CD-ROM, CD-R, or CD-R W discs. A udio CD Once you insert an audio CD a menu appears on the TV screen. Press v / V to select a track then press PLA Y or ENTER and pla yback star ts.

22 Viewing a JPEG Disc Using this D VD Play er you can view K odak PICTURE CDs and discs with JPEG files. 1. Inser t a disc and close the tra y . The PHOT O menu appears on the TV screen. 2. Press v / V to select a folder , and press ENTER. A list of files in the f older appears.
23 Operation Pla ying a D VD VR format Disc This unit will pla y D VD-R/RW discs recorded using the D VD-Video format that hav e been finalized using a D VD-recorder . • This unit will pla y D VD-RW discs recorded using the Video Recording (VR) format.
24 Pla ying a DivX Mo vie Disc Using this D VD Play er you can pla y DivX disc. 1. Inser t a disc and close the tray . The MO VIE menu appears on the TV screen. 2. Press v / V to select a folder , and press ENTER. A list of files in the f older appears.
25 Operation Additional Features Last Scene Memory This pla yer memorizes last scene from the last disc that is viewed. The last scene remains in memor y ev en if you remov e the disc from the play er or s witch off the pla yer . If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled.

19 Opération Lecture d´un CD A udio ou Disque MP3/WMA Le lecteur D VD peut reproduire des enregistrements sous f ormat MP3/WMA dans des disques CD-ROM, CD-R ou CD-R W . CD A udio Lorsque vous introduisez un CD audio , un menu est affiché sur le moniteur TV .

25 Fonctions Supplémentaires Mémoire de la Dernière Scène Ce lecteur mémorise la der nière scène du der nier disque lu. La scène reste dans la mémoire même si le disque est enle vé du boîtier ou si l´appareil est débranché. Si l´on introduit un disque ay ant une scène mémorisée, la scène est automatiquement lue.
