18 Chapter 2 Music Features Impor ting Music into Y our iT unes Library T o listen to music on iPod classic, you first need to get that music int o iT unes on your computer . There are thr ee ways of getting music and other a udio into iT unes: Â Purchase music , a udiobooks, and videos, or download podcasts online from the iT unes Store.
Chapter 2 Music Features 19 T o find songs, audiobooks , videos, and podcasts: Y ou can browse or search the iT unes Store to find the album, song, or ar tist you ’ re looking for .
20 Chapter 2 Music Features  T o subscribe to a podcast, click the Subscribe button next to the podcast graphic. iT unes downloads the most recent episode . As new episodes become available , they are automatically do wnloaded to iT unes when you connect to the Internet.

22 Chapter 2 Music Features Organizing Y our Music Using iT unes, you can organize songs and other items in to lists, called playlists, in any way you wan t. For example , you can make playlists with songs to listen t o while exercising , or pla ylists with songs for a particular mood.
Chapter 2 Music Features 23 T o create a Genius playlist in iT unes: 1 Select a song in your librar y , and click the Genius button ( ) at the bottom of the iT unes window . 2 If you haven ’t turned on Genius yet, click Turn On Genius. Genius creates a playlist ins pired by your selected song .
24 Chapter 2 Music Features Syncing Music A utomatically By default, iP od classic is set to sync all songs and playlists when you c onnect it to your computer . If your iT unes librar y is larger than the capacity of your iPod classic, iTune s creates a pla ylist that fits.
Chapter 2 Music Features 25 Managing iP od classic Manually Setting iT unes to let you manage iP od classic manually gives you the most flexibility for managing music and video on iP od classic. Y ou can add and remove individual songs (including music videos) and videos (movies and T V shows).
26 Chapter 2 Music Features T o reset iT unes to sync all music automa tically on iP od classic: 1 In iT unes, selec t iP od classic in the source list and click the Music tab . 2 Select “Sync music” and then choose “ All songs and playlists.” 3 Click Apply .
Chapter 2 Music Features 27 Note: When you browse for music videos in the Music menu , you only hear the music. When you browse f or them in the Videos menu, you also see the video. When a song is playing , the Now Playing screen appears. The following table describes the elements on the Now Pla ying screen of iP od classic.
28 Chapter 2 Music Features 2 Choose Browse Artist, and then press the Center butt on. Y ou see the other songs by that ar tist that are on your iP od classic. Y ou can select another song or return to the Now Pla ying screen. T o browse songs by album: 1 F rom the Now Playing scr een, press and hold the C enter button until a menu appears .
Chapter 2 Music Features 29 T o add or remove items fr om the Music menu: 1 Choose Settings > Music Menu. 2 Choose each item you want t o appear in the main menu. A check mark indicates which items hav e been added. T o revert to the original Music menu settings, choose Reset Menu.
30 Chapter 2 Music Features Y ou can also add a list of songs. F or example, to add an album, highlight the album title and press and hold the Cen ter button until the album title flashe s. T o play songs in the On-The-Go playlist: m Choose Music > Playlists > On-The-Go and choose a song .
Chapter 2 Music Features 31 T o view lyrics on iPod classic while a song is pla ying: m On the Now Playing scr een, press the Center button un til you see the lyrics. The screen displays the lyrics , which you can use the Click Wheel to scroll through as the song plays.
32 Chapter 2 Music Features Note: The volume of songs and other audio may v ar y depending on how the audio was recorded or encoded . See “Setting Songs to Pla y at the Same Volume L evel” on page 3 2 for information about how to set a relativ e volume level in iT unes and on iP od classic.
Chapter 2 Music Features 33 Using the Equaliz er Y ou can use equalizer presets to change the sound on iP od classic to suit a par ticular music genre or style.
34 Chapter 2 Music Features Y ou can use iT unes to add audiobooks to iP od classic the same way you add songs. I f you stop listening t o an audiobook on iP od classic and go back to it later , the audiobook begins playing fr om where you left off . iPod classic skips audiobooks when set to shuffle.
3 35 3 Video F eatures Y ou can purchase movies , T V shows , and music videos, rent movies , and download video podcasts at the iT unes Store , and then add them to your iP od classic. Y ou can watch videos on iP od classic or on a T V connec ted to iP od classic.

Pre ss the Next/F ast-forward or Previous/Rewind button t o skip to the nex t or previous screen of photos.
