5 3 GENERAL Intended Use This instruction manual is intended to assist the user in safe and efficient operation of the Upper Ar m Semi-Automatic Digital Blood Pr essur e Monitor Model 1103 (hereinafter: device). The device must be used in accor dance with the procedur es described in this manual.
6 4 TIPS ON T AKING BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT 1. It is necessar y to know that ar terial blood pressur e is subjected to sharp fluctuations. The level of the arterial blood pr essure depends on many factors. Generally arterial blood pressur e is lower in the summer and higher in the winter .
7 3. Accurate measur ement of blood pressur e may be difficult in people with serious ar terioscler osis, weak pulse, or in patients with irregular hear t rates. Please consult a qualified physician to interpret your blood pressur e readings. 4. Keep quiet and relax during measurement.

9 7 CORRECT POSTURE FOR MEASUREMENT Fig. 7-1 1. Sit down and place your left elbow on a table so that the upper arm cuff, when applied, will be at the same level as your heart. Note: The level of your heart is slightly below your armpit; 2. Extend the left arm, palm up.

13 10 MEMOR Y FUNCTION Memory Recall 1. Model 1103 can store 90 sets of readings and will automatically calculate the average of the last 3 readings. When memor y is full (90 sets of readings are stored), the oldest reading will be replaced by the newest.

5 3 GENERAL Uso previsto Este manual de instrucciones está destinado a ayudar al usuario en la operación segura y eficiente del Monitor de Pr esión Ar terial Digital Tipo Brazo Superior Semi-Automática Modelo 1103 (en lo sucesivo, el aparato). El aparato debe ser utilizado de acuer do con los procedimientos descritos en este manual.
6 4 CONSEJOS P ARA TOMAR MEDICIONES DE LA PRESIÓN ARTERIAL 1. Es necesario saber que la presión ar terial está sometido a fuertes fluctuaciones. El nivel de la presión arterial depende de muchos factores. En general, la presión ar terial es menor en el verano y el mayor en el invierno.
7 3. Medición precisa de la presión ar terial puede ser difícil en personas con arteriosclerosis grave, pulso débil, o en pacientes con ritmo cardíaco irregular . Por favor , consulte a un médico calificado para interpretar las medidas de la presión arterial.
8 6 AJUSTE DE LA FECHA Y HORA La función de fecha y hora crea la capacidad de documentar la fecha y hora de cada medición. Este aparatotiene un formato de12 horas.
