1 QUICK ST ART GUIDE MITSUBISHI PEDION QUICK ST AR T GUIDE This Quick Start Guide gives you the minimum amount of information needed to start working with your new P edion. M ore detailed in formation is provided in the Owner’ s Handbook (the second part of this book).
2 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Connecting to the AC power supply Begin by connecting the P edion to the AC po wer supply . This is necessary becuase the P edion's internal batter y is initially uncharged. 1. Connect the AC adapter to the DC-IN connector on the rear of the P edion.
3 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Charging the internal battery The P edion's internal batter y begins to charge as soon as you connect the P edion to the AC power supply . W e recommend that you let the battery fully charge before using the P edion for the first time.
4 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Attaching the Multimedia Pack Once the P edion ’ s batter y has been fully charged, you can connect the M ultimedia P ack. 1 . Ensure the P edion is turned off. 2 . Close the LCD panel and turn the P edion over . 3 . Slide open the battery and multimedia connector covers on the underside of the P edion.
5 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Starting the Pedion T o start the Pedion 1 . Slide the latches on the sides of the P edion for ward to release the LCD panel, then open it. 2 . Adjsut the angle of the LCD panel until you can view the display comfortably . 3 . P ress the P o wer button.
6 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Using the touchpad The touchpad consists of a touch-sensitive tablet and two buttons, which together perform the same function as a mouse. The left and right touchpad buttons correspond to left and right mouse buttons. F or more information, see the chapter on “T ouchpad and Keyboar d” in the Owner’ s Handbook.
7 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Registering and configuring Windows Registering Windows Y our computer has the Micr osoft W indows operating system already in place or pre-installed , so that it is ready for you to set up when you turn the computer on.
8 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Conserving battery power Tips on conserving battery power ♦ Whenever possible, work with the AC adaptor connected and plugged in to the supply . That way , the P edion ’ s internal battery recharges while you work. ♦ T o pause briefly when working, close the LCD panel.
9 QUICK ST ART GUIDE Normal shutdown T o shut down the P edion safely: 1 . W ait until all the activity indicators on the P edion and M ultimedia Pack sho w ‘ not busy ’. 2 . Remove any diskettes and CDs from the M ultimedia P ack. 3 . T urn off any attached peripherals.

The Pedion switches to Disk S uspen d mode about th ree minutes l ater . When yo u see a low-batt ery warning, y ou should imme diately connect the AC ad apter.

OWNER’S HANDBOOK BIOS Setup 6/1 6 BIOS SETUP Using th e Setup ut ility The BIOS (Basic Input /Outpu t System) mediates between t he computer’s hardware – t he processor, memory , and so on – and its so ftware – the operating system and your progr ams.
