NO TICES AND SPECIFICA TIONS About GPS Syst em and Location A ccuracy The Global Positioning Syst em (GPS) is operated by the US government, which is solely responsible for its accuracy and maintenance. The system is subject to changes which could aff ect the accuracy and per formance of all GPS equipment.
V ehicle Use Notic e Audiovox is committed t o safety and responsible use. Do not use this GPS device to navigat e while driving a motor vehicle. Attention to this device while driving can distract the motor vehicle ’ s operator, cr eating an unsafe situation.
C ONTROLS AND INDICA T ORS 1. Store/Set ( ) Button - Pr ess to save a setting . - Pr ess to turn on the backlight. The backlight will remain on for twenty seconds. 2. Battery ( / ) Indicator - Indicates amount of batter y charge remaining . Displays when the battery is fully charged.
INST ALLING THE BA T TERIES OPERA TING THE UNIT 5 T o turn the unit on: 1. Pr ess and hold the On/Off ( ) switch for thr ee seconds. 2. W ait for the GPS signal t o lock. The GPS Satellite ( ) Indicator will be steady when locked. If the GPS signal is not locked, the time will not display and location modes will not operate.
SET TING UP THE GPS L OCA T OR DO THIS FIRST Before using the GPS L ocator , to make the device operational, you will have to set the time zone to your location and calibrate the compass. Setting Y our Time Zone 1. Pr ess the Mode ( ) Button repeatedly until the Time ( ) Indicator appears.
Calibrating the C ompass Note: During calibration, hold the GPS Locator horizontal to the g round with the display facing up . 1. Pr ess the Mode ( ) Button repeatedly until the Compass ( ) Indicator appears. 2. Pr ess and hold the Store/Set ( ) Button for thr ee seconds.
8 Time Mode In Time Mode, time is displa yed in 12-hour (AM/PM) f ormat. 1. P ress the Mode ( ) Button repeatedly until the Time ( ) Indicator appears. Note: If the GPS Satellite ( ) Indicator is fl ashing, the GPS is not locked and the time can not be displayed.
9 Location Mode The GPS Locator stor es and locates up to three diff erent locations. They are named Home Location ( ), Car Location ( ), and F avorite Location ( ). Y ou can switch between locations by pressing the Mode ( ) Button. Although each location has a designated name (Home, Car , or F avorite), any type of location can be set.
10 TROUBLESHOO TING • If the unit can not be started or used normally, please make sure that the batteries are installed corr ectly. • If you ar e not using your unit for a long period of time, please remov e the batteries. • If you ar e moving, the time required f or GPS positioning may increase .
