1 ❖ About this booklet This information booklet contains all you need to know to use y our new Sky digibox. Look out for this symbol. It indicates useful and impor tant tips.
2 Using your Sky digibox ❖ What is Sky Guide? Sky Guide is a helpful and easy to use on-screen guide to your digital satellite ser vices. It is designed for people who want to get the most out of watching television. All Sky Guide features are controlled using y our Sky remote control.
3 ❖ Using equipment saf ely Y our Sky digibox has been man ufactured to meet inter national safety standards, b ut you m ust take care if y ou want to obtain the best results and oper ate it safel y . W e recommend that you ha v e your digital satellite system installed by a qualified satellite-TV installer .
4 Using your Sky digibox This section gives y ou the information you need to star t watching digital satellite TV . For more detailed information about your Sky digibo x, use the Contents or Index to find the relevant section of this booklet.
5 ❖ T urning y our Sky digibo x on and off To tur n your Sky digibo x on, press Sky on your Sky remote control. Make sure the standb y light ( S ) on the front of your Sky digibo x is green – this shows y our Sky digibo x is on. To tur n your Sky digibo x off, press the standby key ( ) on your remote control.
6 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Changing channel Using the ch k e y Press ch + or – on y our Sky remote control to change channel up or down, one at a time . Using the channel number If you kno w the channel number , y ou can use the number k eys to choose the channel you want to watch.
7 ❖ Using the Sear ch & Scan banner When you are watching a satellite channel and want to find out what else is on, either no w or later , without inter r upting the progr amme you are watching, press select to display the Search & Scan banner .
8 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Changing the v olume Press v ol + or – on y our Sky remote control to increase or decrease the volume of y our TV . Press mute to turn the TV sound off.
9 ❖ What is Sky Guide? Sky Guide is a helpful and easy to use on-screen guide to your digital satellite ser vices. All Sky Guide features can be controlled using y our Sky remote control. There are four major elements; each of these has a separate key on y our remote control.
10 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Y our Sky Guide and y our Sky remote contr ol Y our Sky Guide and Sky remote control are designed to wor k together . Whatever par t of Sky Guide is on your screen, use the ar rows to mo ve the highlight around, then press select to choose the option you want.
11 ❖ TV Guide Press tv guide on your remote control to see the TV Guide screen. Here you can choose to see: ◆ All Channels – listing of all TV progr ammes scheduled for the next seven da ys, listed b y channel number .
12 Using your Sky digibox Finding a pr o gramme To find a progr amme from the full listings, press tv guide on y our remote control, highlight ‘All Channels’, then press select . The All Channels listing screen is shown. Use the up and down arrows to mo ve the highlight through the channels.
13 If you choose a programme that is on a channel to which you do not cur rently subscribe , you will be giv en information on how to include this channel in your subscription. A–Z Listings If you’ re looking for a par ticular progr amme , a quick way to find it is to use the A–Z listings.
14 Using your Sky digibox Displa ying more inf ormation If you w ould like more inf or mation about a par ticular progr amme , use the ar rows to highlight it, then press the i key on your Sky remote control. The progr amme infor mation banner appear s on your screen giving you a shor t synopsis of the progr amme .
15 Using y our P ersonal Planner Y our P er sonal Planner lists the progr ammes you ha ve selected for future viewing, and sho ws you a reminder just bef ore a selected progr amme star ts.
16 Using your Sky digibox ‘Ser ies Link’ icon, indicating that a ser ies link for the progr amme has been enabled. Pressing the ‘Ser ies Link’ (green) key enab les the next programme in a ser ies to be inser ted into your P er sonal Planner . For more information on the Ser ies Link feature see page 19.
17 Pr ogramme Clashes If you add a programme to your P er sonal Planner that clashes with the progr amme that you ha ve previously scheduled, Sky Guide will ask what you want to do . Y ou can choose from 2 options: ◆ Press select to keep both programmes, and to be reminded when each progr amme star ts.
18 Using your Sky digibox Remo ving a pr ogramme To remo v e a progr amme from your P er sonal Planner , highlight it, then press the ‘Delete’ (y ellow) k ey . The progr amme will be automatically deleted. Y ou may be asked to confirm your deletion, if so the following banner will be shown.
19 Using AutoView to chang e channels automatically Y ou can set up the P er sonal Planner to tune to a progr amme automatically rather than showing you a reminder – this is called AutoView .
20 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Bo x Office This section of Sky Guide is where you can choose the Bo x Office progr ammes you want to watch. Press bo x office on your remote control to see the Bo x Office screen. The Box Office screen allo ws y ou to see listings of movies b y star t time , in alphabetical order or just the latest additions.
21 Ordering a Bo x Office pr ogramme Y ou can order Box Office programmes using your remote control. To order a Box Office programme , complete the follo wing steps. 1. Use the ar rows to highlight the programme you want to watch. Press select if you want to add the programme to your Pe r sonal Planner for future viewing.
22 Using your Sky digibox Regardless of your P arental Control settings, you’ll need y our PIN to watch any Bo x Office programme shown before its normal water shed time .
23 ❖ Ser vices Press ser vices on your remote control to see the Ser vices screen. In Ser vices you can do the follo wing: ◆ View information on using your Sky digibo x ◆ Display a list of usefu.
24 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Pa r ental Contr ol and y our PIN To display the P arental Control screen, press ser vices on your remote control. Highlight ‘Parental Control’, then press select .Y ou will be asked to enter a PIN (P er sonal Identification Number).
25 Viewing Restrictions To see the Viewing Restr ictions screen, highlight ‘Viewing Restrictions’ on the Parental Control screen, then press select . The Viewing Restr ictions screen lets you specify the programme categor ies that cannot be viewed unless y our PIN is entered.
26 Using your Sky digibox Spending Limit To see the Spending Limit screen, highlight ‘Spending Limit’ on the Parental Control screen, then press select . The Spending Limit screen lets you specify ho w much a programme can cost before y our PIN is required to order it.
27 Changing y our PIN To see the Change PIN screen, highlight ‘Change PIN’ on the Parental Control screen, then press select . The Change PIN screen lets you change y our PIN an y time you wish. To change your PIN y ou m ust key in y our new PIN twice .
28 Using your Sky digibox Online Restriction To see the Online Restr iction screen, highlight ‘Online Restriction’ on the Parental Control screen, then press select . The Online Restr iction screen lets you specify whether y our PIN is required before y ou go online to a ser vice that incur s a charge .
29 ❖ System setup Y ou shouldn’t nor mally need to access the System Setup screens as your Sky digibo x should ha ve been correctly set up when it was installed. How ever , the System Setup screens can be useful if, for example , y ou b uy a new TV and y ou want to make sure y our Sky digibox mak es the best use of the new TV’ s features.
30 Using your Sky digibox These System Setup options let you set the f ollowing: ◆ Picture Settings – to see and change the Sky digibo x picture for mat, second location picture format if using a tvLINK or similar device , video output type, contr ast level, timeout for the Search & Scan banner and set Message Aler t to ON or OFF .
31 ❖ Messa ge Alert To see the cur rent Message Aler t setting, highlight ‘Picture Settings’ on the Ser vices screen, then press select . Message Aler t allows y ou to receive an on-screen aler t when you get an email or SMS message .
32 Using your Sky digibox When you receiv e a new email or SMS message , the message light on y our digibo x will switch on, and you will see an env elope icon on y our Search & Scan banner , with a prompt to press the ‘Messages’ (y ellow) k ey for messages.
33 ❖ Adding Channels There is nor mally no need for y ou to tune in satellite channels because your Sky digibo x tunes in all the a vailable channels f or you, including new channels as they are added to the digital satellite TV ser vice .
34 Using your Sky digibox 6. Highlight ‘Find Channels’ and press select .Y our Sky digibox checks the settings you entered and looks f or any new channels at those settings. 7. The New Channels screen appear s on your TV . This is a list of the channels that your Sky digibo x has found.
35 Fav ourite Channels Y ou can create a list of the channels you watch most often, so that you can tune to these fa vourite channels quickly . Y ou can hav e up to twenty fa v our ite channels. To see the Fa vourite Channels screen, press ser vices , highlight ‘Fa vourite Channels’, then press select .
36 Using your Sky digibox Remo ving a F a v ourite Channel To remov e a channel from y our list of fav ourites, highlight it on the Fa vourite Channels screen, then press the ‘Fav ourite’ (yello w) key . The tick disappear s and the selected channel is removed from y our list of fa vourites.
37 Other Channels Other Channels include channels that your Sky digibo x is capab le of receiving but for which listings ma y not be a vailable in Sky Guide, for example , foreign language channels. To see the Other Channels screen, press ser vices , highlight ‘Other Channels’, then press select .
38 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Interactiv e Inter active ser vices are a vailable through y our Sky digibo x. Y ou can shop, bank, get information, pla y games and send and receive emails, simply b y using your remote control. Press interactive on y our remote control to see the Interactive screen.
39 ❖ Recor ding a satellite pr o gramme If you ha ve a video recorder , you can use it to record satellite progr ammes from your Sky digibo x. To record a satellite progr amme , make sure y our Sky .
40 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Setting y our r emote control to operate y our TV The Sky remote control can control both your Sky digibo x and TV . Y our Sky remote control should hav e been set up to work with your TV when your Sky digibo x was installed.
41 If the light on your Sky remote control b links three times, your Sky digibox has check ed all the possible settings f or the code you used. Check that you ha ve the cor rect 4 digit code and star t again at Step 1. 7. T urn your TV back on again and then press tv guide .
42 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Replacing the batteries in y our remote contr ol If the batter ies in your remote control are running low , an on screen war ning will appear .
43 In the Search & Scan banner you will see a ‘lo w batter y’ icon, which will disappear only when the batteries are replaced. When the batter ies in your Sky remote control need replacing, inser t two AA (MN1500, LR6 or UM-3) batter ies. T o replace the batter ies: 1.
44 Using your Sky digibox ❖ Looking after y our Sky Viewing Car d Do not remov e and re-inser t your Sky Viewing Card unnecessar ily . There is no need to remov e y our Sky Viewing Card unless it is faulty or has expired. Do not bend your Sky Viewing Card.
45 This section shows y ou how y our Sky digibo x: ◆ can be connected to other equipment such as your stereo system; ◆ can be reconnected after minor changes, f or example , after y ou ha ve mo ved y our TV or Sky digibox; ◆ settings can be updated.
46 Using your Sky digibox W ARNING! Alwa ys disconnect your Sky digibo x fr om the mains supply befor e y ou connect it to (or disconnect it fr om) any other equipment.
47 For fur ther infor mation and tips on getting the most out of your Sky digibox, tune to channel 999, the Sky Latest channel, or 998, the Sky Welcome channel. If you need help or inf or mation about your TV or video recorder , please refer to the instr uction books that came with them.

55 ❖ Mains plug and its fuse The supplied mains plug may be a non-rewireab le type or a rewireable type . Both types contain an approved 3 A fuse . If you need to replace the fuse , y ou must use an AST A- or BSI-appro ved BS1362 fuse, r ated at 3 A and mar ked: The non-rewireable plug has its fuse beneath a fuse cov er on its face .

You should find there the most important technical data Sky Sky digibox - thus you can check whether the hardware meets your expectations. When delving into next pages of the user manual, Sky Sky digibox you will learn all the available features of the product, as well as information on its operation. The information that you get Sky Sky digibox will certainly help you make a decision on the purchase.
