4 About the Carl Zeiss lens Your ca mcorde r is equippe d with a C arl Zeiss lens, which was deve loped jointly by Carl Zeiss, in Ge rmany, and Sony Corpora tion, and pr oduces supe rior image s. It adopts the MTF me asurement system for video c ameras and offe rs a qualit y typical of a Carl Zeiss l ens.

21 Gettin g Started charge the built-in rechargeable battery and then set the date and time again (p. 104). • It takes a few seconds for your camcorder to be ready to shoot after the power is turned on. You cannot operate your camcorder during this time.

27 Recordin g/Playback Recor ding b Not es • If the ACCESS lam p is lit or flashing after recording is finished, it means d ata is still being written onto the hard disk or “Memory Stick Duo.” Do not apply shock or vibration to your camcorder, and do not remove the battery or AC Adaptor.

29 Recordin g/Playback You can magnif y images up to 10 times the origin al size with the power zoom lever or the zoom but tons below the LCD screen. Move the power zoom lever sl ightly for a slower zoom . Move it furthe r for a faster zoom. b Not es • Be sure to keep your finger on the pow er zoom lever.
30 Press (f lash) r epeatedl y to se lect an appropri ate setting. No ind ication (A uto f lash): Automatically flashes when there is insuff icient am bient light. r (Forced flash): Always uses the flash regardless of the surrounding brightnes s. r (No flash): Records without flash.

85 Troubles hooting The (OPTION) is not displayed. • The OPT ION MENU cannot be used during Easy Handyc am operation. The menu sett ings have changed automatically. • Dur ing E asy Hand ycam op eration, nearly all the menu it ems wi ll be automa tically set to the de fault sett ings.
86 The /CHG (charge) lamp does not light whi le the batte ry pack is being charged. • Slide the PO WER sw itch to OFF (CHG) (p. 16). • Attach the batter y pack to the camc order correctl y (p. 16 ). • Connect the pow er cord to the wall outlet properly .
87 Troubles hooting You cannot de lete images stored on or format the “Memory Stick Duo.” • R elease the lock o n the writ e-protect tab of the “Memor y Stic k Du o” if th ere is one (p. 100). • The maximum number of image s that you can dele te on the ind ex scree n at one tim e is 100.
88 The actual record ing time for mo vie is less than the expected approximate recording time of the hard dis k. • Depending on an object, suc h as a fast moving obje ct, the time ava ilable for recording m ay shorten (p . 11, 63). The recordi ng stops.
