3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES WARNING: This symbol points out important safety instruct ions which, if not fol lowed, could endange r the personal safety and /or property of your se lf and others. Read and follow all in structions in this manual before attempting to operate this machine.

5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR SNOW THROWER Loose P arts The augers are secured to t he auger shaft with two shear pins and bow tie cotter pins. If you hit a foreign object or ice jam, the snow th rower is designed so that the pins may shea r. Two replac ement shear pin s and cotter pins are pr ovided for your convenience.
6 • If not already atta ched, slip the ca bles that run fr om the handle panel to th e chute assembly into the cable guide located on t op of the engine. See Figure 4. • If not al ready attached, unwra p the headlight wir e which is attached to the he adlight, beneath the handle panel.
7 The drive control also locks the auger control so you can turn the chute dire ctional control without interrupting t he snow throwing process. If the auger control is engaged simultaneously with the drive control, the ope rator can release t he auger control ( on the left handle) and the au gers will remain engaged.
8 Fuel Shut-Off V alve (Optional Equipment) On models so equ ipped, the fuel shut -off valve, located under fuel tank, cont rols fuel-flow from the fuel tan k to the engine. Se e Figure 6. Safety Ignition Key The safety ignition key must be fully inserted and snapped in place before the unit will start.
9 WARNING: The electric starter is equipped with a gr ounded three-wir e power cord and plug and is designed to oper ate on 120 volt AC household curren t. It must be used with a prop erly grounded three- prong receptacle at all times to avoid the possibility of electric shock.
10 Auger Control Test IMPOR T ANT : Perform the following test before operating your snow thrower for the first time and a t the start of each wi nter season. Check the adjus tment of the auger control as follows: • When the aug er control is released and in the disengaged “up” position, the cable should h ave very little slack.
11 Figure 9 Operating T ips NOTE: Allow the engine to warm up for a few min utes. The engine will not develop fu ll power until it reaches operating t emperature. NOTE: The tem perature of the mu ffler and the surroun ding areas may exceed 150°F (65°C).
12 Figure 10 • With the traction control lever engaged, the frictio n wheel must contact the drive plate . See Figure 11. If adjustment is necessary: • Loosen the jam nut on the traction cable and thread the cable in or out as nece ssary. • Retighten the jam nut to secure the cable when correct adjustment is reached.
13 Figure 13 Carburetor • Minor carb uretor adjustment may be required to compensate fo r differences in fuel, temperat ure, altitude and load . • Refer to the se parate engine manual, packed with your unit, for car buretor adjustment info rmation.
14 Figure 15 To check the level of grease in the gear case, r emove the vent p lug. If your unit is equip ped with a g rease fitting , you may, if necessary, add grease using a grease gun and the gr ease fitting on the side of the gear case. IMPORT ANT : Do not overfill the gear case, s ince damage to the seals co uld result.
15 • Remove the carriag e bolts and flange lock nuts which attach the two skid shoes t o t h e s no w t hr ow er on two sides. See Figu re 16. Figure 16 • Reassemble new skid shoes with the har dware removed earlier. Make certain the skid shoes are adjusted to be level.
16 Figure 19 • Lift the auger belt from the auger pulley, an d slip belt between th e support br acket and the au ger pulley. Repeat th is step for the front auger belt. See Figure 20. • Replace both auger drive be lts by following instructions in r everse order.
17 Figure 22 Figure 23 • Position the fricti on wheel assembly up onto the pin of the shift rod assembly, an d slide the shaft through the assembly. Reassemble in re verse order.
18 SECTION 8: TROUBLESHOOTING NOTE: For repairs beyond minor adjustments listed above, cont act the local dealer. Prob lem Cause Remedy Engine fails to start. 1. Fuel tank empty, or stale fuel . 2. Blocked fuel line. 3. Choke not in ON position 4. Faulty spark plug.

19 Figure 22 Figure 23 • Faites glisser le nouvel ensemble de la roue de frottement sur le mécanisme de changement de vitesse, comme à la figure 23 A, et poussez l’arbre de transmission dans la machine. Remontez dans l’ordre inverse. Moteur Consultez la notice d’ utilisation du moteur .
18 Figure 19 • Dégagez la courroie des tarières de la po ulie des tarières et faites glisser la courroie en tre le support et la poulie. Répéte z cette opération pour dé gager la courroie de la tar ière avant. Voir la Figure 20. • Remplacez les deux cou rroies de transmission de s tarières en procédant dan s l’ordre inverse.
17 IMPORT ANT : Ne remplacez JAMAIS les goupilles de cisaillement avec des bou lons ordinaire. Aucun dommage à l’ensemb le de la vis sans fin ou à d’autres composants, en c onséquences, ne sera PAS couvert par la garant ie de votre so uffleuse.

13 AVERTISSEMENT: La température du silencieux et des zones vo isines peut dépasser 150°F (65°C). Évitez de les toucher. • Le déblaiement sera plus fa cile s’il est effectué peu de temps après une chute de ne ige. • Dans la mesure du possible, pr ojetez la neige dans le sens du vent.
12 • Attendez enviro n dix secondes a vant de débrayer la tarière. Ré pétez cette opér ation plusieurs fois. • Laissez tourner le moteur à plein régime et garde z la commande de la tarière à la position déb rayée et «relevée». Placez-vous devan t la machine.
11 NOTE: Couvrez toujours l’évent du bouto n de l’amorceur en appuyant. Un a morçage supplémentair e peut être nécessaire lor s du premier démarrage si la température est inférieure à 15°F (-9°C). • Tirez lenteme nt sur la poignée du dé marreur jusqu’à ce que vous sentiez une lé gère résistance.
10 CHAPITRE 4: UTILISATION DE LA SOUFFLEUSE Ava nt l e d é m a r ra g e Avant de commencer le mo teur, lisez, comprenez et suivez toutes les instructio ns et les consignes sur la machine et dans ce no tice avant le fo nctionnement. Pleins d’essence et d’huile • Vérifiez le niveau d’ huile et d’essence et ajouter au besoin.
9 Manivelle de la goulotte Elle se trouve sur la gauche de la souffleuse et elle sert à changer la direction de la pr ojection de la neige. Évitez de diriger la neige vers des spectateurs, des animaux, vé hicles ou bâtiments. Outil de dégagement de la goulotte Il sert à dég ager une goulotte bouchée.

Voir laFigure 2. • Déplacez l’écrou à six pans contre le guidon (si besoin est) pour ajuster le boulo n à œil sur la commande de direction de la goulotte de façon q ue la tige ne to uche pas le moteur.
6 CHAPITRE 2: MONTAGE Boulons de cisaillement Les tarières sont fixées sur l’arbre à l’aide de deux goupilles de cisaillement et de ux goupilles fe ndues. Les goupilles sont sensés de cisaille r si la souffleuse heurte un objet ou un bloc de glace.
