Please keep the instructions safe for later use. BEFORE OPERA TING • Read this operating instruction manual carefully.
• Be sure the cutting attachment is not in contact with anything before starting the unit. • Use the unit only in daylight or good artificial light. • Avoid accidental starting. Be in the starting position whenever pulling the starter rope. The operator and unit must be in a stable position while starting.

8 SECTION 2: KNOW YOUR TRIMMER APPLICATIONS As a trimmer; • Cutting grass and light weeds. • Edging • Decorative trimming around trees, fences, etc.
9 SECTION 3: ADJUSTING THE J-HANDLE 4. Tighten the clamp screws evenly, until the J-handle is secure. 3. While holding the unit in the operating position (Fig. 3), position the J-handle to the location that provides you the best grip. Decal ADJUSTING THE J-HANDLE 1.
10 SECTION 4: OIL AND FUEL INFORMA TION Fig. 4 Funnel Spout DANGER: OVERFILLING OIL CRANKCASE MA Y CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJUR Y! The importance of checking and maintaining the proper oil level in the crank case cannot be overemphasized. Check oil befor e each use and change as needed.
11 FUELING UNIT W ARNING: Gasoline is extr emely flammable and its vapors can explode if ignited. T o avoid serious personal injury , always stop the engine and allow it to cool before filling the fuel tank. Do not smoke while filling the tank. Keep sparks and open flames away from the area.
6. Squeeze the throttle control to the wide open (full throttle) position. 7. With the unit in the starting position (Fig. 10) pull the starter rope briskly 5 times in the FULL choke ( A ) position. If the engine attempts to run before the fifth pull, proceed to step 8.

Each time the head is bumped, about 1 inch (25.4 mm.) of trimming line is released. A blade in the cutting attachment shield will cut the line to the proper length if excess line is released. For best results, tap the Bump Head™ on bare ground or hard soil.
W ARNING: To prevent serious injury , never do maintenance or repairs with unit running. Always do maintenance and repairs on a cool unit. Disconnect spark plug wire to ensure the unit will not start. Fig. 15 DECORA TIVE TRIMMING Decorative trimming is accomplished by removing all vegetation around trees, posts, fences, etc.
Line Locking Hole Trimming Line Line Loading Hole Eyelet 5. Insert the line into the locking hole (Fig. 18). Do not push the line more than 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) into the line locking hole. When inserted correctly the line will form a small loop (Fig. 18).
Bump Knob Foam Seal Spring Inner Reel INSTALLING A PREWOUND REEL 1. Turn the bump knob counterclockwise and remove the bump knob, spring and foam seal (Fig. 22). 9. If winding the line becomes difficult or the line jams, pull the ends of the line from the spool (Fig.
2. Pull out the bump knob, spring and foam seal (Fig. 22). 3. Pull the inner reel with existing line from the outer spool (Fig. 23). 4. Remove any existing line from the inner reel before cleaning. Remove any debris or grass from the knob, spring, inner reel and foam seal.
CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL CAUTION: To pr event extensive engine wear and damage to the unit, always maintain the proper oil level in the crankcase. Never operate the unit with the oil level below the bottom of the dipstick. The importance of checking and maintaining the proper oil level in the crankcase cannot be overemphasized.
AIR FIL TER MAINTENANCE Cleaning the Air Filter W ARNING: To avoid serious personal injury , always turn your trimmer off and allow it to cool before you clean it or do any maintenance on it. Clean and re-oil the air filter every 10 hours of operation.
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT The idle speed of the engine is adjustable. An idle adjustment screw is reached though a hole in the top of the engine cover (Fig 37). NOTE: Careless adjustments can seriously damage your unit. An authorized service dealer should make carburetor adjustments.
4. Disconnect the spark plug wire. 5. Clean dirt from around the spark plug. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head by turning a 5/8 in. socket counterclockwise. 6. Remove the engine cover (Fig. 39). 7. Clean dirt from around the rocker arm cover.
10. If the clearance is not within specification: a. Turn the adjusting nut using a 5/16 inch (8 mm) wrench or nut driver (Fig. 42). • To increase clearance, turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise. • To decrease clearance, turn the adjusting nut clockwise.

SECTION 4: INFORMA TIONS SUR L ’HUILE ET LE CARBURANT Fig. 4 DANGER: Nous ne saurions trop insister sur l'importance de la vérification du niveau d'huile du carter -moteur et de son maintien.
F11 AJOUT DE CARBURANT AVERTISSEMENT : L'essence est extrêmement inflammable et les vapeurs qui s'en dégagent peuvent exploser si on y met le feu. Pour éviter des blessures graves, arrêtez le moteur et laissez-le refroidir avant de remplir le réservoir de carburant.
6. Appuyez sur la manette des gaz pour la mettre à pleins gaz. 7. L’appareil étant prêt à démarrer (Fig. 10) et le levier en position d'étranglement MAXIMUM (A) tirez brusquement sur la corde de démarrage 5 fois. Si le moteur essaie de démarrer avant la cinquième fois, passez à l’étape 8.

Chaque fois que vous donnez un coup sur la tête, vous déroulez environ 25,4 mm (1 po) de fil. La lame du protecteur d'accessoire de coupe est conçue pour couper le fil à la bonne longueur si vous déroulez trop de fil. Pour de meilleurs résultats, tapez la tête Bump Head ™ sur un sol dégagé ou dur.

F19 SECTION 7: INSTRUCTIONS D’ENTRETIEN ET RÉP ARA TIONS VÉRIFICA TION DU NIVEAU D'HUILE MISE EN GARDE : pour éviter de trop user le moteur ou d'endommager l'appareil, maintenez toujours l'huile du carter-moteur au bon niveau.
F20 SECTION 7: INSTRUCTIONS D’ENTRETIEN ET RÉP ARA TIONS ENTRETIEN DU FILTRE À AIR Nettoyage du filtre à air AVERTISSEMENT : Pour éviter des blessures graves, éteignez toujours la désherbeuse et laissez-la refroidir avant tout nettoyage ou entretien.
RÉGLAGE DU CARBURATEUR La vitesse de ralenti du moteur est réglable à l’aide d’une vis de réglage accessible par un trou situé sur le dessus du couvercle du moteur (Fig. 37). NOTE : Un réglage négligé peut sérieusement endommager l'appareil.

ENTREPOSAGE DE LONGUE DURÉE Si vous comptez entreposer l'appareil pendant une longue période, 1. Videz toute l’essence du réservoir dans un récipient. SECCIÓN 6 : INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIóN E14 Cada vez que golpea el cabezal, suelta aproximadamente 1 pulgada (25.4 mm.) de línea de corte. La cuchilla en la protección del accesorio de corte detendrá la línea en la longitud correcta si se suelta demasiada línea.
SECCIÓN 6 : INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIóN E15 ADVERTENCIA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales, no realice nunca ningún mantenimiento ni reparación con la unidad en marcha. Realice siempre el mantenimiento y reparaciones con la unidad fría. Desconecte el cable de la bujía de encendido para asegurar que la unidad no arrancará.

E19 SECCIÓN 7 : INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO Y REP ARACIóN INSPECCIÓN DEL NIVEL DE ACEITE PRECAUCION: Para evitar un desgaste excesivo del motor y el daño de la unidad, mantenga siempre el nivel de aceite correcto en el cárter del cigüeñal. No opere nunca la unidad con el aceite debajo del extremo inferior de la varilla de medición.
E20 SECCIÓN 7 : INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO Y REP ARACIóN MANTENIMIENTO DEL FILTRO DE AIRE Limpieza del filtro de aire ADVERTENCIA: Para evitar graves lesiones personales, apague siempre su recortador y espere a que se enfríe antes de limpiarlo o de realizar cualquier tipo de mantenimiento.
AJUSTE DEL CARBURADOR La velocidad mínima del motor puede ser ajustada. Puede tener acceso al tornillo de ajuste de mínima a través de un orificio en la parte superior de la cubierta del motor (Fig 37). NOTA: Los ajustes descuidados pueden dañar su motor seriamente.
