FRADSWITCH-8A, FRADSWITCH-16A, FRADSWITCH-24A 18 This chapter provides mechanical and electrical installation procedures for the Fradswitch. The Fradswitch is delivered completely assembled. It’ s designed to be installed as a desktop unit or to be mounted in a 19-inch rack.
CHAPTER 3: Installation 19 Ambient Requirements The ambient operating temperature of the Fradswitch should be 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C), at a relative humidity of up to 90%, noncondensing.

CHAPTER 3: Installation 21 INIT–NOR jumper , JP2 This jumper is used to select the default set of configuration parameters stored in the Fradswitch. The jumper has two positions: NOR Normal operation. The Fradswitch uses the parameters selected by the user during the last configuration session.

CHAPTER 3: Installation 23 3.4 Installation in 19-inch Racks The Fradswitch can be installed in 19-inch racks. Unit height is 1U (1.75"). The width of the Fradswitch is slightly less than the available mounting width. An adapter kit provides the hardware necessary for installation of the Fradswitch in 19-inch racks.

CHAPTER 3: Installation 25 3.5.3 P OWER C ONNECTION AC power should be supplied to the Fradswitch through the 5-foot (1.5-m) power cable terminated by a standard 3-prong plug. Connect the cable between the AC mains connector on the Fradswitch’ s rear panel and a standard grounded AC outlet.

CHAPTER 4: Operation 29 4.2 Operating the Fradswitch After being prepared for operation as explained in Section 4.1 , the Fradswitch normally operates unattended. Operator inter vention is required only when the Fradswitch is set up for the first time or must be adapted to new operational requirements.
