1 Using LUN Zoning In this Guide T o increase flexibility and provide more ef fective partitioni ng of your storage i nfrastructure, the Adaptec DuraStor 7200S controller suppor ts LUN zoni ng. Usin g LUN zo ning, yo u can allow a host to access a specific set of LU Ns on an array while restricting acces s to other LUNs in that array .

3 A W ork ing Examp le A W orking Example The follow ing figure shows yo u an example of ho w you can use LUN zoning. In this example: ■ Array A has tw o partitions . Partition 1 h as an include list tha t contains only Acco unting , so only t he Accountin g host ca n access partition 1.

5 Creating Names for WWNs Creating Names f or WWNs T o make LUN zoning easier to manage, you can assign names, or aliases, to the hosts. For exam ple, you can use a computer name that has already been assign ed. Y ou can determine w hich WWN is for which host by booting one host at a time an d then viewing the WWN list.

This is where you determine which ho sts can access each partition LUN. Y ou s et up LUN z oning by either excl uding or including host s on a list for each partition LUN.
7 Config urin g LUN Zo ning 2 Select LUN Zoning , then pr ess Enter . The LUN Exclude list or LUN In clude list displays. The def ault setting for each partition LUN is Include All Hosts . This results in all hosts b eing able to access all partiti ons.

9 Changing All Partitions to Include All Hosts Changing Al l P artitions to I nc lude All Hos ts Using the General LUN Zoning menu option, you can change all partitions to include all hosts.
